MAN Roland’s drupa top news concentrate on enhanced production and energy efficiency. Also on the top of the world’s number two printing press manufacturer’s agenda are offers to increase the value of printed products.

MAN Roland’s CEO Gerd Finkbeiner arouses curiosity: “We are going to strengthen our position as the world’s number one in web offset and num-ber two in sheetfed with a segment oriented selection of exhibits. We will stress our comprehensive system and service competence and our widely practiced customer orientation. Our performance itself will embody impres-sively the new spirit that pushes forward and inspires our company since having gained independence.”

Thomas Hauser, MAN Roland’s Marketing Executive, adds: „Our drupa performance is going to be a lively meeting point, a printing industry mar-ketplace, a center of experts’ talks and exchange of ideas. Not least will our booth be an attractive communication center for the industry in which the focus is clearly on the customers.”

Groundbreaking new developments in sheetfed press business
The sheetfed highlight is the ROLAND 900, XXL in perfecting mode (for-mats 7B, 7B plus and 8). For printing companies willing to develop new market opportunities this new perfector opens excellent perspectives. The simultaneous perfecting lets them profit from remarkably reduced job times and simplified production processes.

Falling costs per copy and a fast job management considerably increase production efficiency. This goes for the whole Plus Format family featuring 0B plus, 3B plus, and 7B plus. The ProcessPilot as standardization tool efficiently helps keep achieved production standards and is suitable for the support of the ISO 12647 norm, with additional System Brunner evaluations.

The InlineColor Pilot was developed for color measurement inside the press and reduces waste as well as makeready time. Measuring and con-trolling are possible without having to draw sheets. A unique selling propo-sition is okBalance. The grey balance control achieves a more stable quali-ty over the whole run. An additional process diagnosis reduces waste.

The ROLAND InlineFoiler Prindor impresses by cold foil lamination featur-ing a quality that so far seemed to be achievable with hot foil lamination only, although even without its system-related disadvantages. Close to 50 medium-format installations in 16 countries speak for themselves. Starting with drupa the ROLAND InlineFoiler Prindor will be available for the ROL-AND 500 series, too.

Groundbreaking new developments in web press business
Only shortly after the 80-page LITHOMAN world premiere MAN Roland is going to present the 96-page LITHOMAN concept with a 2.860 mm web width.

MAN Roland newspaper presses show the way to a completely automated newspaper production, for example with APL, the fully automatic plate change system that has been developed in cooperation with KUKA Robo-ter GmbH. The LITHOMAN series will be shown with APL, too. New in commercial web offset are DynaChange and HYCON. With HYCON, a classically mechatronical system, MAN Roland reduces waste dramatically after reel splice and job change. DynaChange allows plate changes during full press speed and thus drastically brings down makeready times.

UV towers for newspaper printing presses offer the chance to generate ad-ditional business, to enhance newspapers’ quality and to retrofit existing installations.

PRINTVALUE comprehends four brands and products as well as service offers around the printing press, being aware of the fact that only the suc-cessful interplay and the combination of the single parts make for the whole performance of a system as complex as the printing process.

printservices: With ProServ MAN Roland guarantees its customers the availability of their presses, the program has been expanded. MAN Roland service contracts mean a new performance dimension for the customers: safety and security on a long term basis is the motto. Especially for Tele-Presence the performance range has been enlarged, for an example take the new Maintenance Manager module.

printcom: As first supplier in the market MAN Roland has positioned itself with a consequent and for many years proven process in consumables business. Owing to this experience MAN Roland stands for continuous, certified reliability. printcom offers our customers a product and perfor-mance offer with which they can use their presses at their optimal quality, productivity and total costs performance.

printnet: The new printnet component for the online registration of opera-tion data supports calculation when collecting strengths and weaknesses after a printing order for sheetfed and web presses and thus helps proving economy. New for sheetfed presses is the order disposition software di-rectly at the press for the optimal order of the print jobs. New in the web press business is the printnet monitor for an uncomplicated production control independent from the location of the production sites.

printadvice: With the new brand printadvice MAN Roland offers consult-ing consequently adapted to the other PRINTVALUE subjects. It covers energy conscious site planning, efficient logistics processes or heat re-covery as well as change management processes for the staff or pro-found ROI planning.
