manroland discussed the topic of “Innovate management model, create business potential” with customers from Hangzhou and Beijing

August 4, 2009 (Shanghai) - Though the Chinese printing industry has seen significant development in recent years, the over dependence on the export print business have restricted and negatively affected the development of the domestic printing business, as well as restricted growth. As leaders of the businesses, how to lead the company to survive and develop among the fierce market competition? How to capture business opportunities in the crisis and be more innovative? These were the topics which were discussed at the Inaugural manroland Printing Summit. manroland held the inaugural manroland Printing Summit with the topic of “Innovate management model, create business potential” in Hangzhou on July 27 and in Beijing on July 29 respectively.

From the academic point of view, Professor Zhao Zhiqiang from Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication delivered a keynote speech on “Analyze the situation, capture the opportunities, innovate and develop”. With detailed and authoritative statistics, Professor Zhao helped the delegates to analyze the current political and economic situation from different aspects. He stressed that businesses should analyze their own risks from the two respects of internal and external causes, and look for a suitable way of innovation and development through understanding of themselves first. Professor Zhao showed: the outstanding enterprises were not the pure traditional “printing” enterprises any more. They not only needed green printing and perfection of the quality of printed products, but also kept enhancing their services: besides meeting the needs of the customers, they were able to provide better solutions for the customers. Businesses that do this by employing value- added services to beat their competitors and win the trust from the customers.

Mr. Anthony Kenney, International Printing Management Strategy Senior Consultant, explained to the audience the current development of the printing industry from another angel. He said, printing businesses should not pessimistically think that there was no further development for print. At the same time, businesses should improve themselves: firstly, improve their services according to the needs of customers; secondly, to look for technology and machines that would increase the productivity and lower their operating costs. He expressed that if businesses wanted to enhance their competitiveness, most importantly, they should increase their own value. He demonstrated a sample package which was printed with the InlineFoiler technology developed by manroland. The package would be more delicate if it is printed with the technology of being pressed by anodized aluminum, and printed with four colors. Mr. Kenney said, “You won’t be the boss unless you are able to print with different effects.” At the end of the presentation, Mr. Kenney demonstrated to the audience manroland new technology “The bigger, the better-96 pages printed per paper feed; the faster, the better- InlineFoiler technology”, which were well received by the leaders of the printing manufacturers.

The last part of the summit was Questions and Answers Section. The sales team and experts from manroland had direct communication with the customers, answering all their questions. What’s more, the summit made it a point to arrange a site visit to Zhejiang Ideal Packaging Group and Beijing Jinghua Hucai Printing Co., Ltd. for the customers, letting them learn and share excellent managerial experiences with each other, to further explore their own development potential, capture the business opportunities and win the market.

With the financial crisis sweeping the whole world in 2008, all industries were affected to different extents. The printing industry had gone into the downturns. As the outstanding business cooperation partner, through holding such kind of summit, manroland hoped to bridge the communication between the customers and experts, help them to improve and succeed.
